Dodecanese:

Rhodes: The island of Rhodes is the capital and the biggest of the Dodecanese islands with a population of about 98.000 inhabitants. Rhodes's capital lies outside and within the walls of a very well preserved Venetian castle. Boasting 300 days of blue skies each year, Rhodes lies at the southern end of the Dodecanese chain of islands that follows the line of the Turkish coast.

Kos:  Kos is the third largest island of the Dodecanese archipelago, after Rhodes and Karphathos. It is lying between the islands of Nisyros and Kalymnos, Kos is close to the coasts of Asia Minor.

Kalymnos: Kalymnos is lying between the islands of Kos and Leros. Famous for its sponge fishing industry Kalymnos has 1200 inhabitants, which are mostly living in the capital and main port, Pothia.

Leros: Used as a naval base by Germans and Italians and as a prison for political dissidents, Leros has just recently been open to tourism. Leros is located in the north-western part of the archipelago, between the islands of Patmos and Kalymnos.

Patmos:  Patmos lies between the islands of Leros, Fourni and Ikaria. It is famous for its religious past, since it is in Patmos that Saint John the Divine wrote the Book of Revelation (the Apocalypse).

Karphathos: The island of Karphathos is located between the two well know Greek islands of Rhodes and Crete. The second largest island in the Dodecanese, Karphathos is spectacularly beautiful, with wild, rugged landscape, mountains in the north and fertile in the south.
